Härkila hunting clothing is a quality brand that originated from a centuries-old passion and tradition for hunting. The name Härkila dates from the 17th century and was originally a family farm in Västra Göteland on the west coast of Sweden. In the ancient language of the north Härkila means land of the big bulls and that refers to the large numbers of giant moose that lived in that area. At the time, hunting elk, bears and deer was the key to survival in the harsh Scandinavian climate.
The company Härkila
The family of the Härkila farm consisted of successful hunters and their farm grew into a thriving business that traded in meat. In the early 1950s the company expanded with the breeding and training of hunting dogs. The Härkila kennel grew and became one of the largest in Scandinavia. With more than 300 hunting dogs (from elk dogs, labradors, setters to dash dogs), the kennel is still known today for its excellent performance in this area.
The start with Härkila hunting clothes
The experienced hunters and hunting dog breeders of the Härkila farm family started a new challenge after their adventure with the dogs. They wanted to create the ultimate hunting gear and hunting equipment Hunting gear suitable for rough terrain and hunting gear that protects you from wind, rain, heat and snow. The family established a sewing workshop where new designs and materials were processed into top quality hunting gear. This was the beginning of the hunting brand Härkila.
The success of Härkila hunting clothes
The demand for high quality hunting clothes proved to be high and the reactions to Härkila's clothing were unanimously positive. Hunters appreciate this clothing that keeps them warm during a heavy elk hunt in the freezing cold. They appreciate the clothing that keeps them dry and comfortable, even after a frantic search for wild boar. The clothing is noiseless, so no crackling, peeping or sanding while sitting on the deer. Many hunters have already discovered Härkila's clothing and we are proud of that.
Innovation and development
In 1990, Härkila was the first Scandinavian yacht brand to introduce Gore-Tex in their yacht clothing. From that moment on, many other innovative partners followed, with whom we started working, such as:
- Wind stop
- Mossy Oak
- Realtree APG
- YKK zippers
The DNA of the family from the old Härkila farm can still be found in the research and development department of Härkila. The tradition and passion for hunting is passed down from generation to generation and represents the core values of the Härkila brand.
